New Fund Sabou Capital to Invest up to $1.5 million in 25 African SMEs

Surayyah Ahmad, a two-time cofounder, has launched a new SME fund, Sabou Capital, to bridge investment gaps in Anglophone and Francophone Africa. The SME fund will invest between $350,000 and $1.5 million in 25 late pre-seed to Series A SMEs in agriculture and agroprocessing, renewable energy and climate, supply chain, logistics, and mobility sectors.
The name Sabou is derived from “Sabo,” a Hausa word meaning rebirth or renaissance, blended with a French tonation. The fund is taking a different approach from traditional venture capital firms, targeting SMEs that are primed for scale but lack structured financial support. Read more here
